The
holidays are here once again, and as most people do: you’re going
to leave your house for longer than a day or two. This can be pretty
stressful for your pet cat who is used to seeing you at the end of
the day, and suddenly realise that they’re all alone in a big
house. More importantly, think of all the things that could go wrong
while you’re away, and do you even know someone who you can
completely trust to look after your favourite feline?
If
your cat’s big, pleading eyes aren’t enough for you to put off
your vacation, and its not possible to bring your cat along, then
placing them in an established cattery is the solution to your
problem. Don’t just choose the nearest place though: your cat might
go ballistic if surrounded by unfamiliar animal sounds, smells, and
sights. Their senses are more sensitive than humans, so bring them
along to the facility for a bit of housewarming. A cat
boarding facility with a lot of elevated areas and hiding places
can positively affect your cat’s sense of security.
After
you have found a suitable cattery, make sure to have your cat looked
over by the family vet or prepare the medical papers so that the
staff can be informed of any areas that they should watch out for.
Most of all, make sure that your cat gets the same amount of loving
they get from you.
